I'm SO excited....today I am guest posting over at my friend Kayse's blog. I met Kayse this summer at the SheSpeaks Conference and I just love her to pieces. I'm so thankful she is allowing me to share my heart for adoption and the orphan on her blog. On Sunday, churches all over the United States, will be praying for and educating people about the 147 million orphans all across the globe. A few short years ago, I had no idea what Orphan Sunday was. I didn't know that 147 million Continue Reading
Giving Thanks and Adoption Awareness
I can't believe it's November 1st! Today marks two things - the beginning of Adoption Awareness Month and the beginning of a yearly tradition that I have :) This month I have the chance (and so do you) to bring awareness about adoption to the world. I know that throughout our journey, we came in contact with a lot of people who just didn't get it. They couldn't fathom why we didn't want our own children. I feel like there's still this sense that adoption is only second best - oh how I pray Continue Reading
Dressed Up for the Zoo
Last night John and I took Jackson to the zoo for some trick-or-treating. It was a tad bit chilly and the place was swamped, but we had such a great time. Jackson and his friend Harmonee just kicked back in the wagon while the adults gathered up their treats (and then ate them later!). Here are a few photos from our Continue Reading
Gazelle Intensity
The past two weeks, I have swiped my debit card only 3 times! (and I have to admit I enjoyed the 3 times I got to swipe it!) I had $100 in cash to last me two weeks. We're serious about this new budget, folks! Gazelle Intensity as Dave Ramsey says. It's now John's favorite saying. I might say it every now and then too, but my tone may be a tad bit sarcastic. :) We have survived two weeks on the budget and are about to start our next two weeks. Another $100 cash and don't. swipe. your. Continue Reading
Four Years Ago….
Happy Anniversary John! It's hard to believe that four years have flown by. It seems like just yesterday that I held the door open for Barry Switzer while wearing my wedding dress, was sick just days before the wedding, and crying over our (not anything like the photo) wedding cake. If I could do one thing different, I would have gotten married on the beach like I wanted to - weddings are overrated :) The past four years haven't always been easy - marriage is definitely not like the Continue Reading
