I've lived in Oklahoma for the past 13 years, but I'm a Texas girl through and through. And Texas girls can't help but love Miranda Lambert; especially when they're trying to get over a guy. Her first album was the soundtrack to a toxic relationship I couldn't shake in college. Each song an anthem of love and heartache. I played that CD until it skipped. I listened to it while driving on the backroads of Texas. I cried when the words cut too deep. I won a karaoke contest singing the ballad Continue Reading
An Intentional Summer
I didn't get around to writing this blog post last week like I initially planned. My excuse? I was too busy watching Jackson splash in his $8 Lightening McQueen swimming pool. I'm pretty sure it's the best $8 I've ever spent. Every time I thought about opening my computer, I felt Him whisper, Writing can wait! There's a long list of blog ideas written in my journal, but lately one thought keeps going through my mind. I want to have an intentional summer, making memories with this Continue Reading
What I Read in May
1. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes By Betsy St. Amant Kat is tired of her plain-old vanilla life. She'd really like to add some flavor by acting on the feelings she has for her best friend Lucas. He quickly realizes he might loose the love of his life to a fancy baking gig in New York Continue Reading
Seven Things I Learned in May
1. Going to the OKC Zoo in May Might Not Be the Best Idea Because there will be 352 school buses and a bazillion school kids. You'll have to park at the horse racing track across the street and wrangle your stroller through a mob of people to present your season pass at the window. But despite the crowds, we still had a great day with friends. We saw baby ducks waddling behind their mama, baby Red River Hogs, bears taking a swim, and the most adorable baby gorilla. Jackson ran barefoot Continue Reading
Our Summer Bucket List
Last summer we marked quite a few items off our long bucket list; but I found myself fretting over the items we didn't get to. So this year I'm keeping things simple. I've made a list of fun activities we can do during the hot summer days, but they are a little more realistic than some of the items I included last year. I want the summer to be simple yet intentional. Jackson will go to preschool three days a week this fall. I'll register him for PreK in February. I want our summer to be about Continue Reading
