As September comes to a close, I'm reflecting on what I learned this month... I have Quite the Competitive Streak This is our third year to participate in the OKC Apraxia Walk and I was determined to raise $1000. The past two years we've been the top fundraising team and I wanted to earn that title again. Well, we raised $1000 and then $2000, but a team is still beating us by several hundred dollars. It's been a hard pill to swallow, y'all! John thinks I'm crazy! He doesn't understand why I'm Continue Reading
Permission to Stay and Rest and Be {Fierce Hearted Book Review}
These days I'm finding joy in a fizzy Dr Pepper poured over extra ice. My Bible open and a pumpkin spice candle flickering on my happy turquoise table. I'm finding joy in throwing a load of laundry in and putting something in the CrockPot for dinner. I'm finding joy in the freedom of this season. To breathe. To linger. To fill up what's been poured out the past five and a half years. Seven words often pop into my head when I start to feel flustered; when I start to feel pressure because Continue Reading
What I’ve Been Reading {July – September}
I'm giving myself permission to sit and read a book while Jackson is at school and not feel guilty about it! I didn't read near as much as I would have liked this summer. We now have two weeks of school under our belts and we're gearing up for a fun Labor Day Weekend in Texas. As we say goodbye to August, I eagerly anticipate my favorite time of the year - FALL!!!!! Here's a few things I learned during our last month of summer... I'm On Two Book Launch Teams In the next few months I will be promoting Holley Continue Reading
Finding My New Groove and Giving Myself Permission to Breathe
We've officially survived the first week of Kindergarten and it went better than we could have dreamed. I am one VERY PROUD Mama! God has answered so many prayers - for the right school, the right teacher, for Jackson to have self-control - and I could go on and on and on. I have no doubt that moving was the best decision for our family. I also believe 100% that the right school district can make or break a child (especially a child with special needs). I've had 35 kid-free hours this Continue Reading
