My Facebook feed has been flooded with pictures of kiddos graduating from kindergarten. They have the cap and gown and the little certificate that says they finished. To be completely honest, I think kindergarten graduations are a little silly - but all the photos have actually made me a little sad. I don't have a photo of Jackson graduating from kindergarten. It's another reminder that our story is different. It's a reminder that public school kindergarten was just too much for my Continue Reading
Special Needs Parenting and Self Care
Special needs mamas, let's talk about self care. The other morning Jackson and I were sitting in the car waiting for speech therapy to start when he decided to crank up the rock and roll and play air guitar. It wasn't even 8 a.m. and he was jamming to Van Halen! ADHD y'all! I haven't had a night away from Jackson in months. John and I haven't had a kid-free getaway in more than a year. There's two reasons for this... We can't leave him with just anyone. Jackson's anxiety makes Continue Reading
Dear Apraxia Mama…
Dear Apraxia Mama: It seems appropriate that Apraxia Awareness Day falls the day after Mother's Day. We're not only our kids' biggest advocates, we're their voice. You've fought the good fight - maybe you've even finished the race. I hope you are celebrating today! But to the mama who Continue Reading
My Son, My Miracle {Gotcha Day 2018}
Last Saturday I was roaming around Target. There wasn't much to do on a cold, rainy day. As I passed the toddler clothes and cute little shoes, I felt a twinge of sadness. I don't shop those little sizes anymore and the big boy clothes just aren't as fun. It seems like just yesterday that God revealed His plan for us to adopt a baby boy. I will never forget the day I held our birthmothers hand during the ultrasound - or the tears that fell when the technician announced I would have a Continue Reading

He's obsessed with staying at hotels (so he can swim), so we're having a little staycation at a local hotel to celebrate his special day! I'm sure the celebration will also include pizza and ice-cream! Happy Friday, friends! Here's a few of my favorite things from the past month! Life of Fred Series A fellow homeschool mama told me about this unique way to teach math! Continue Reading
