December 9th came and went, and we still didn’t have a baby. An induction was scheduled for December 14, but A would check into the hospital the night before. “When do you want us to come?” I asked. “When I check in,” she said. I called my mom to let her know the plan. A few weeks prior, she and my dad had insisted on being at the hospital. Because of the unique circumstances, John and I hadn’t asked our parents to come to the hospital, but I was relieved my parents would be there. “We Continue Reading
When Believing Gets Hard…
It happens just at the time God knew it would and should... This is my second year to read Ann Voskamp's The Greatest Gift during Advent. Last year I answered the question What are you longing for? with these words: For Jackson to talk. I'm worried. A year later and my longing is still remarkably the same. We've seen so much progress in Jackson's speech this year, but there are still days when I literally beg God for the words to come. And some days hope drifts just out of reach and I Continue Reading
I Want Christmas to Be Different…
It's been sitting in the box, on the top shelf of Jackson's closet since his first Christmas. The little guy who makes his appearance this time of year and does all sorts of crazy things. It's not that I'm against it. I actually think it's a cute and fun idea. But the thought of adding another thing to Continue Reading
A Simple Last Minute Gift {Cookies in a Jar}

Take a few ingredients, a jar, and some ribbon and you've got yourself a pretty fantastic Christmas gift. These cookie jars have been my go-to for years. They are perfect for teachers, neighbors, and friends. They also happen to make a really successful adoption fundraiser. We raised more than $1,000 selling these cookie jars during our adoption process. I always Continue Reading
The Wonder of Christmas
We decorated early this year. I'm usually completely against Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving, but we wanted to fully enjoy Christmas after our weeklong trip to New England. Jackson was so excited to put his tree up. I watched as his little hands carefully hung each ornament. They all ended up in one big clump at the bottom of the tree. I spread them out when he wasn't looking. The bad thing about having a boy- all the ornaments are trucks, tractors, and planes. He thought he had Continue Reading
