Last week a blogger I follow posted the most amazing status on her Facebook page. Her mom had sent her a picture of a handwritten prayer from thirty years ago. A prayer she had written, asking the Lord to make her daughter a testimony to His love and power and an encouragement to other mamas. Today Scissortail Silk encourages thousands and thousands of mamas through her Facebook page and blog. Her post that day was such a testimony to the power of prayer. A reminder that God hears every word Continue Reading
10 Things I Learned In July
1. I Really Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Gives Me Strength! Five weeks ago we made the decision to finally get healthy. No quick fix; no short-term plan; but a life-style change. Working out has never been my favorite thing; but I've committed this change to the Lord and I'm seeing progress. I haven't completely given up my Dr Pepper; but I've cut back tremendously. When God Whispers…
This week I finished Kelly Minter's latest Bible study, What Love Is. I have learned a lot digging deep into the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John. Early in the study I came across these words: I don't know of anything more meaningful than when, in the middle of the commotion, God taps us on the shoulder, whispers our name, and welcomes us into the room where He's about to do something special, even secret. I couldn't help but think of the moments in my life when God has met me exactly where Continue Reading
Please Help Me!
About the time I've wrapped my mind around our Apraxia diagnosis, we've learned that Jackson has Sensory Processing Disorder. He's a sensory seeker who can be quite aggressive. Always seeking more proprioceptive input, the sensory craver may bite, kick, hit, and behave in a seemingly aggressive manner. (The Out-of-Sync Child) I'm guilty of not always meeting Jackson's behavior with grace. Instead I get frustrated, embarrassed. and doubt my ability as a mom. I have no idea how to handle Continue Reading
What I Learned In June
1. Spend the $8 on the Lightening McQueen Pool Because it will provide hours of entertainment to your Little Man and bring back memories from your own childhood. You'll fumble with the plastic walls in order to fill it up, but it's worth the hassle. After a few weeks and many hours of splashing, you'll discover a few cracks in the plastic and toss it in the trash. But memories were made and fun was had. It was the best $8 you could have spent! 2. Jackson's a Fish Jackson would do Continue Reading
