I flipped through my Bible to read a few familiar and comforting verses this week. These verses are highlighted and underlined. There are notes written beside them. I've read them over and over and over again. They bring hope when I feel hopeless. They remind me that God is in control. They shift my focus from my circumstances to Christ. This Special Needs journey is hard. Some weeks are smooth as butter. Some weeks crap just hits the fan. The past few weeks crap just keeps hitting Continue Reading
How He’s Learned His ABC’s
I have a confession to make: I probably haven't spent as much time as I should teaching Jackson the basics he needs to know when he starts PreK in August. This confession comes with a lot of mommy guilt. While other kids were learning their ABC's and 123's, Jackson was still learning how to talk. Everything we did was a speech therapy lesson. The Difference A Day Can Make

This month I've turned up the tunes after a bad day. I've lifted my voice in praise after being overcome by His goodness. Nothing can describe how I feel more than the perfect song. 2. Some Surprising Numbers As I prepared our tax documents I discovered Jackson had 123 therapy appointments in 2015, which meant I drove Continue Reading
A Deeper Dependence
Life as a special needs parent is full of ups and downs and twists and turns. We've had our share this week. On Tuesday we had a successful meeting with school officials. Sometimes it's a challenge getting teachers and administrators to understand the effect Sensory Processing Disorder has on kids in the classroom. These struggles can look like bad behavior when it's really not. During our meeting this week, God answered prayers and worked out details. The school occupational therapist Continue Reading
