This year I’ve decided to set a lower number for my reading goal, because I want to enjoy the books I’m reading instead of rushing through them just to check them off a list.
I plan to read 50 books in 2023.
If I read more, great; if not, no biggie.
As I was filling out my new book planner – yes, I have the most awesome book planner this year – I wrote out a few more goals for myself when it comes to reading and books.
Read the Books in My TBR Pile Before Buying More
Okay, I have to be realistic. I have already pre-ordered a few books and there are a few new releases that I’ll just have to buy when they come out because they’re written by my favorite authors. But, I really do want to read through my stack – physical and on my Kindle. If I see a book I want to read, I want to put it on my book wish list instead of buying it immediately.
Buy My Books from the Local Book Store, Not Amazon
When I do buy the new releases that I just can’t wait to read, I want to buy them from our local bookstore instead of ordering them off Amazon. We have the best little bookstore where I live and I want to support them. Jackson and I also like to stop by to say hi to the book dog, Tommy.
Read for Fun
I already touched on this, but I really want to get lost in a good book and not feel rushed to finish it just so that I can move on to my next one. Reading shouldn’t be stressful; but sometimes I make it.
Quit Books that Don’t Have Me Hooked
It’s January 3rd and I already quit my first book of 2023. I was 60 pages in and just not feeling it. I have too many books sitting on a shelf waiting to be read to keep reading books that I don’t love. I pledge to quit lackluster books!
Keep Spreading My Love for Books through My Little Library
I will continue to share my love of books and reading with my neighbors this year, by stocking my little library with lots of great reads! I get so excited every time I see someone taking or leaving a book!
So there you have it! A few of my reading goals for the new year. What goals have you set for yourself?
