If you ask me what the perfect reading day looks like, I would say the one I had this month! It was the first time it officially felt like Fall in Michigan. I had the house to myself. I had my windows open. I had pumpkin candles burning. I was reading the best book and texting about it with a friend.
*Sigh*
Perfection!!!!
If I’m not reading a book at the beach, I want to be reading a book on a Fall day with pumpkin candles burning.
Here’s the five books I read in September…
What She Found by Robert Dugoni
This is the ninth book in the Tracy Crosswhite series, which is about a Seattle homicide detective. Tracy has left the homicide department to work cold cases. She gets a call from a young woman who is looking into the disappearance of her mother, which happened 25 years ago. The woman was an investigative reporter who was working on several high-profile stories, which may have gotten her killed. Can Tracy solve the mystery after all these years?
All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers
Everyone in Wakarusa, Indiana remembers the day January’s body was found in a ditch. Especially Margot Davies, who had been the six-year-old’s friend. Now a reporter, Margot is back in her hometown to care for her uncle who has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia.
When a little girl, who lives a few miles from Wakarusa, goes missing, Margot can’t help but wonder if the case is connected to January’s. After all, her killer was never captured. Margot can’t let go of the nagging feeling that the cases are connected. She sets off to uncover the truth of her friend’s murder before another little girl goes missing.
I couldn’t put this book down. I have a feeling it will make my top three books of 2022. My friend Emily and I read it together; constantly texting each other with our speculations. Highly recommend this true crime mystery.
