I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I could easily finish three or four on a family vacation. My parents didn’t always understand how I could sit in a camp chair, in the middle of the mountains, with my nose in a book.
The Boxcar Children, Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High…so many books, so many good memories.
As much as I loved books and reading as a young girl, my love for those things has grown exponentially in the last few years. (The 75 books in the TBR pile testifies to this!)
Now that my kiddo is older and I have a little more free time, I have more time to read.
I want to spend more time flipping pages than scrolling social media.
I’ve also discovered how much I love discussing books. I love my monthly book club. I love visiting my local bookstore and talking to other customers about what their reading. I love recommending books. I love texting with my book nerd friends.
I love talking about books and I love sharing books!
For years, I’ve passed along the books I’ve finished to fellow readers. Media mail is my best friend.
While I’ll continue to mail books every now and then, I have a new way to pass on good books!
We recently moved to Michigan and I got the idea to put a Little Library in my yard.
I knew exactly who could help me – my dad!
I sent him a text asking him if he thought he could build me one. The next day he was in his shed constructing the perfect library.
When my parents came to visit a few weeks ago they brought the library and we found the perfect spot for it.
I filled it with books for all ages and watched as people stopped to take a look!
It feels like Christmas Morning when I see people taking and leaving books.
I love sharing a good story and I love the story behind my new little library!
