When God began nudging my heart that moving to Michigan was part of His plan, I was hesitant because I knew I’d be leaving behind cherished friendships.
My Oklahoma Mom of 20 years.
Jackson’s best friends and their mama. We’d been cheering each other on in motherhood for a decade.
Jackson’s amazing therapists, friends we vacationed with regularly and my IF Girls!
Several years ago I was lonely – yearning for community – and I found it through IF Table.
IF Table was created by Jenni Allen. She wanted women to build the deep relationships God wants us to have.
The basis: 2 hours. 6 women. 4 questions.
Each month I gathered around a table with five other women. We ate. We laughed. We talked about Jesus.
Over time our relationships grew deep roots. We had an ongoing group text. We left meals on porches and prayed each other through some very hard things. We survived a pandemic together.
God gave me the community my heart craved.
Would I trust Him to do it again in Michigan?
I prayed and took a leap of faith.
I sent a few text messages. I posted in my new neighborhood’s Facebook page. I asked if anyone would be interested in joining me for a monthly IF Group.
Women commented. They all said yes!
A new neighbor showed up at my door to introduce herself. I asked if she’d like to come to our first dinner. She said yes.
I have a list of 12 women who are interested in building community.
Yes, that’s double the size recommended for the group, but guess what? We’ll make the table bigger. We’ll put more chairs around my fire pit. We’ll make room because that’s what Jesus always did!
My hearts desire is to find people to pursue Jesus with. I think I’m off to a great start.
