I’m sharing my December reads a little earlier than usual since I’ll be sharing a recap of my 2021 reads next week.
I didn’t read as many books as I thought I would this month – probably because I watched a few too many Hallmark Christmas movies and because I read two Christmas-themed books aloud to Jackson. I didn’t have as much personal reading time as I normally do.
This month my reading was full of holiday spirit!
Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist by Codi Hall
Best friends Nick and Noel kick off the holiday season with a steamy “fake” kiss. The kiss has the entire town of Mistletoe talking. As the two pretend to be a couple to get back at their exes, they discover their feelings run deeper than the snow piling up outside. Will they give in to what they both want this Christmas?
This was just the book I needed to kick off December. Warning…this book is definitely rated R, but I still enjoyed this holiday romance. I also discovered this book is the first in a three-part series. The other two books are scheduled to release in 2022 and 2023.
A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig
Jackson and I read this book together leading up to Christmas. This is the magical story of the boy who would become Santa. After we finished the book we watched the movie on Netflix. I definitely recommend reading the book AND watching the movie.
The Christmas Wedding Guest by Susan Mallery
The Somerville sisters are both looking for love, but they’ve given up hope that it will happen for them. Reggie returns to her hometown of Wishing Tree after a a year away. She hasn’t been able to show her face since her fiance left her after the world’s shortest engagement. Her big sister Dena is single and pregnant – her choice. The sisters are tasked with helping their parents pull off their magical Christmas wedding. As the wedding and holidays approach, they’ll discover love doesn’t come in neatly wrapped packages.
The only complaint I have about this book was the ending. It was too abrupt. I wanted more. I think this book is the first in a new series, so I’m hopeful that my questions will be answered in upcoming books.
The Christmas Pig by J.K. Rowling
Jackson and I are about to finish this magical Christmas story. A little boy named Jack has lost his beloved stuffed animal. With the help of its replacement – The Christmas Pig – they set out on Christmas Eve for The Land of the Lost in search of Jack’s irreplaceable friend.
The Holiday Swap by Maggie Fox
All Charlie and Cass want for Christmas is a different life, so the twins decide to swap places for the holidays. I just started this book, but it’s sure to be a fun holiday rom-com leading up to Christmas Day.
