This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.
(Habakkuk 2:3 NLT)
This verse refers to the end times, but it spoke so deeply to me during the days we were waiting for Jackson to speak. I remember these words coming to mind as I watched my toddler struggle to utter a single sound during a speech therapy session. These words brought me hope.
Wait.
Be patient.
Don’t give up.
On our journey we’ve had to be patient more times than I can count (and I haven’t always been good at it!)
Patient to become parents through adoption.
Patient as we waited for Jackson to talk.
Patient as he learned to read.
Patient as he continues to struggle with memorizing math facts.
Patient as we waited for the right diagnosis.
These moments have most definitely tested our patience, but they’ve also produced perseverance.
Jackson has reached milestones in his own time, but through the struggles we’ve endured.
We didn’t give up.
