It feels like it’s been the longest week ever! I blame it on the crazy winter weather Oklahoma is experiencing. Weather that’s just supposed to get worse over the next few days. Ten to fifteen inches of snow anyone?
I wish I was at the beach.
Here’s a few of my favorite things from the week; they’ve been keeping me sane when the cabin fever gets to be too much!
Frosted Sugar Cookies
I decided if I was going to be stuck inside I might as well bake (and eat) some Valentine cookies. I absolutely love a good sugar cookie with frosting. A while back I came across this recipe from Mix and Match Mama and it’s a keeper. Super simple and super tasty!
This Book
On a recent kid-free trip to the bookstore I bought this book to add to our collection of picture books. I don’t care how old Jackson gets, I love picture books and I will continue reading them to him as long as he will let me. This book is so sweet and I love the message…BE YOU!!!!
And This Book
The coverage of 9/11 played a huge role in my decision to pursue a journalism degree. This might be one of the best books I’ve read. I was captivated by the first-hand stories of those who survived the tragic events of that day, and felt deep emotion reading the stories of those who lost loved ones. There were so many details from that day that I didn’t know or had completely forgotten about. I couldn’t put this book down.
A Mailbox Full of Valentine Cards
Wednesday I had a major case of the winter blahs! Finding red envelopes in my mailbox was exactly what I needed to lift my spirits!
Valentines Day
Between the brutal winter weather and the ongoing pandemic, this year I’m going all out for Valentines Day!
I just feel like we need a little happy, a little love, a little celebration. I might have gone a little overboard on little gifts for Jackson and I plan to decorate our breakfast area with balloons and signs. John and I ordered banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery in NYC as our Valentine treat.
A little red, pink and love to brighten up what’s going to be a bleak (and cold) February 14th!
Jackson and I listed out the many reasons we love John. We decorated our bedroom with hearts for him to find when he got home from work on Thursday.
I didn’t snap any Valentine photos of Jackson this year because it’s just been so dang cold; but here’s a favorite from last year.
Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding
It’s so delicious it deserves to be mentioned twice in this post! It’s being delivered today and I cannot wait to dig in! YUM!!!!
Atypical on Netflix
John and I started watching this series together this week. The show is about Sam, an 18-year-old with Autism, and his family. It’s hilarious, but also heavy. I have a feeling we will finish it this weekend while we’re stuck inside.
