Holy moly I can’t believe I haven’t been to this space since March. A lot has happened since then – we received a new diagnosis, we’ve taken time to process the news and we wrapped up our first official year of homeschooling. It’s been a crazy couple of months!
While we will school year-round (because we really don’t have a choice and we want the flexibility to travel whenever we’d like); we have made a vow to ourselves this summer – take a much needed break from therapy appointments and have a lot of fun!
I thought it was time to dust off the blog and share some of my favorite summer things!
So…if I still have any readers hanging around, enjoy!
These Cups
I found them at Wal-Mart and they were cheap – eight bucks y’all! I bought myself a purple one because purple is my favorite color. I loved it so much I went back and bought one in every color. This is what I’m drinking out of all summer long. These cups keep your drink cold all day! The ice does not melt!
Rodan + Fields Sunscreen
I’m sure I’ve blogged about my favorite sunscreen before, but it’s worth mentioning again. I wear both of these daily during the summer months! The small bottle is for my face and I absolutely LOVE it! It smells so good and does not leave a greasy residue. The full-body sunscreen doesn’t either.
Beach Towels From Sams Club
A few years ago I bought beach towels from Sams Club. Not only were they a great deal ($12 each), they were big, held up really well through many trips to the pool, a beach vacation and countless washes. The other day I bought four new ones since our other ones have lasted a few summers. I’m not sure I’ll ever buy beach towels anywhere else.
Simple Summer Makeup
I don’t wear a lot of makeup (thanks to Rodan + Fields), but on the summer days when I actually put on makeup, I have four musts: I wear R+F Reverse sunscreen, R+F mineral peptides, mascara and lip gloss. Super easy and great coverage!
Cute Graphic Tees
I have a huge problem. I want to buy all the cute summer graphic tees. Throw them on with a pair of denim shorts and flip flops and that’s my official summer wardrobe! They will make packing for the beach in September super easy! Here’s a few of the ones I’ve purchased lately (my husband’s gonna kill me!)
Watching Him Swim
I cannot get enough of watching him do his thing! He loves swimming and he’s back in the pool with Coach Mary again this summer. He’s signed up for four weeks of lessons. The first day back, he was going off the diving board. I wish he could do this all year long! Hmm…maybe that’s another reason why we should move to the beach!
Long Hair and Ball Caps
I’ve been letting my hair grow out. It’s been a long time since I’ve had long hair. I love that I can stick it in a pony tail and throw on a cap on days I don’t want to wash and dry it. My favorite caps are these bright colored Polo ones. The purple one is mine. The turquoise is technically John’s, but I borrow it sometimes. He doesn’t seem to mind!
Pink Drinks
I’m trying really hard to cut back on my Dr Pepper intake. I’m actually doing pretty well – only drinking one a day and sometimes going an entire day without my favorite treat! I’ve found a drink I like that’s perfect for a hot, summer day and has to be a little better (maybe??) than a Dr Pepper.
The Pink Drink from Starbucks. It tastes just like a pink Starburst! Yum!
This Candle
My new favorite candle from Bath and Body Works is Coconut Water. It smells heavenly. It’s not overpowering and just fills my house with the smell of summer. I’ve been burning this one non-stop!
Beach Reads
Summer isn’t summer without the newest release from Elin Hilderbrand. I am anxiously awaiting her newest book, Summer of 69′ which releases June 18th. Last year I saved her summer release for our beach vacation, but I’m not sure I’m going to do that this year. Why wait to read a good book?
I just finished reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover and it was such a great book! Several friends had recommended it and I’m so glad I finally sat down to read it. I finished it in two days! Definitely a book worth packing in your beach bag. I will definitely be reading more of Hoover’s books in the future!
I also ordered The Islanders by Meg Mitchell Moore because I saw that Elin Hilderbrand highly recommended it. It’s bound to be good. Here’s to reading lots of great books this summer!
