My boy is infatuated with Transformers these days.
“A giant Megatron that turns into a tank” is all he asked Santa for.
He unwrapped Transformers on his birthday and on Christmas morning.
Transformers have taken over my house.
He takes them to speech therapy each week and has in-depth conversations about Autobots and Decepticons with his therapist, Ms. Allie. She’s a saint! She never gets tired of talking Transformers with Jackson. They motivate him in therapy and she incorporates them any way she can.
Jackson had been begging John and I to take him to see the new Bumblebee movie, so last weekend we finally said yes.
I snapped a photo and sent it to my parents with the caption, He’s so excited to see the new Transformer movie!
My mom immediately responded, Is it rated PG?
Oops…I thought it was, but it turns out it was PG-13.
But it turns out it was the best movie (says the mom who was just sucking it up and seeing it because her son wanted to).
It was the BEST movie because Bumblebee reminds me of my son.
A Transformer who can’t talk and must find his own unique way of communicating.
Watching Jackson mesmerized for the entire Bumblebee movie brought me so much joy.
He smiled and laughed. At times he got so excited he talked out loud and we had to remind him to be quiet. I even saw a few triumphant fist bumps during certain scenes. He enjoyed every moment!
I think he might have enjoyed it more than Disney World.
But it was the last scene of the movie that went straight to this Apraxia Mama’s heart.
Bumblebee tells Charlie, “thank you for helping me find my voice!”
Jackson and his beloved Bumblebee really do have something in common.
With the help of those that love him, they both found their voice!
