Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.
(Zechariah 4:10a)
That’s the verse I’ve chosen for our first full year of homeschool. It seems only fitting. It’s a good reminder that small steps and slow progress really do count.
A few minutes of math here, a few minutes of reading there. Oral spelling tests in the car. Listening to audio books during our commute to speech therapy twice a week. It’s all adding up to an education.
A week ago, as I prepared for the first day of school, I felt fear creeping in. I was scared. I cried. I got down on my knees and prayed. I didn’t feel like I had what it takes to do this job (I still don’t most days). And if I’m being really honest, there are some days I DON’T want to do this job.
Because homeschooling is hard, y’all!
But here we are…
The Linck Learning Academy is officially in full swing.
And because I’m determined to make this journey fun, here’s a few fun facts about our (anything but traditional) school.
School Colors: Blue and Purple (of course Jackson and I chose our favorite colors!)
Mascot: Jellybean the Goldendoodle (who was not present on the first day of school because she’s currently on a doggy vacation in Texas).
Mission Statement:
No matter how small or how slow (the progress), together we will learn and we will grow.
Learning will look different and that’s okay; we don’t have to sit at a desk all day.
We’ll explore, we’ll imagine; we’ll do our best.
We’ll take things one step at a time, we’ll laugh, we’ll create. First grade is going to be great!!
Today we kick off week two of homeschool and it’s all happening at the beach! I’ll be blogging about our ocean studies when we return from Florida next week! Homeschool is hard, but there are definitely perks.
I’m currently headed to stick my toes in the sand.
