This year, instead of participating in Friday Favorites every week, I’ve decided to share my favorite things on the last Friday of each month. My lists may be a little longer; but sharing once a month will allow me to participate in a few other link ups that happen on Friday.
My January Favorites included….
The Crown on Netflix
John got me hooked on this series. You guys, I’m not a history buff. I had no desire to watch this show, but it is so good! John and I couldn’t wait for Jackson to go to bed each night so we could cram in an episode or two. We couldn’t stop watching! Now we are anxiously awaiting the next season!
Present Over Perfect
If you’re craving a slower, simpler life, this book is for you! It was exactly what I needed to read to kick off the new year and I’m pretty sure it will remain a favorite for a long time to come! You can read a few more of my thoughts about the book here and here.
Pioneer Woman Meatballs
We hadn’t made these in a long time; but we did this month and I’m wondering why we don’t make them more often! I love them! They are the ideal comfort food; perfect for a cold, winter day! We made mashed potatoes and green bean bundles to go with ours and it was the most delicious meal! You can find the recipe here.
Journal Bible
My Dad drew my name at Christmas and bought me the journal Bible that had been on my Amazon wish list for quite a while. It’s so hard for me to not use my Bible that’s all marked up and highlighted; the one I’ve used for eight years. This year I started fresh with a new Bible and a box of colored pencils and I’m having so much fun adding a little creativity to my quiet time.
The Tracy Crosswhite Series
A fabulous friend (and avid reader) introduced me to a new author and I’m loving his series about a homicide detective. I love murder mysteries, so these books are perfect. John has been reading them, too! It’s been fun reading the books together and discussing them afterwards.
Kindle Fire
I’ve always preferred reading my books the good old-fashioned way, whereas John loves reading on his Kindle. I used his Kindle to read the Tracy Crosswhite series since he had already read them. I decided I actually liked using the Kindle. I also decided I wanted my own! John ordered one for me as an early birthday present! It’s hot pink and I love it! I still prefer to have a book in my hands, but I think this little device is going to be perfect for traveling and sharing ebooks with my hubby.
Meat Chopper
This is probably super random; but I totally love this kitchen gadget! I had one for a long time, but our sweet Doodle decided to chew it up! I went to cook hamburger meat one night as I was making dinner and didn’t even know what to do without my meat chopper! I quickly added another one to my kitchen drawer!
Fun Walmart Finds
I went to Walmart the other day and stumbled upon the cutest stuff! These fabulous notecards that screamed my name (I’m from Texas and I love happy mail!)! These fun decorative dishtowels and an apron. I don’t usually wear an apron when I bake, but I love me some cupcakes and I love these bright colors. I could not resist buying it. I justified my purchase by telling myself I’d start wearing an apron!
