This year we told our families that we wanted to be at home with Jackson on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
It was such a hard decision.
We’ve spent the past 30+ years waking up at one of our parent’s house on Christmas morning.
But Jackson’s getting older and we want him to wake up at home; to run into the living room and see what Santa has left under the tree.
We want our floor to be littered with wrapping paper. For there to be no place to be other than together in our living room.
We cherish the memories we’ve made with our families.
But we want to start family traditions of our own.
I’m looking forward to traditions new and old this year.
New ornaments for the tree. Pictures with Santa. Church on Christmas Eve.
I’m ready to bake all our favorite Christmas treats.
I’m excited about this new book by Ann Voskamp that will keep our hearts connected to Christ this Christmas.
We will decorate cookies and drive around in our pajamas to look at lights.
We will send our sponsored child a Christmas card.
On Christmas Eve, we will bake a birthday cake for Jesus. Jackson will be in charge of the sprinkles.
We will sing Happy Birthday and eat a big piece the following morning.
We will read the Christmas story.
We will cuddle up for a Christmas movie in our jammies.
We will celebrate the Greatest Gift of All.
What are your favorite Christmas traditions? How do you keep your heart connected to Christ?
