My list of gifts stalled around 800. I went several weeks without writing anything down. I’m not ungrateful. I’m just a little type A and don’t like writing down the same gift twice.
There were so many gifts this summer. I shared a few of them here.
But for the past few weeks I’ve felt as dry as Oklahoma in August. I’m ready for a new season – crisp, cool, colors exploding. I’m ready to unwrap a new season of gifts. Pumpkins, Pot Pie, and Peppermint Mochas.
Because when I stop counting, I start complaining.
When I stop remembering, I start wanting.
Stop practicing gratitude and you grow immune to His glory around you.
So I write them one by one.
#822 My toddler sitting in the fridge helping himself to a snack before bed.
#823 A little boy spraying his mama with the water hose and giggling hysterically.
#824 A card from a friend on the day I desperately needed the encouragement.
#825 His first nap in his big boy bed.
#826 New jeans/sweaters for Fall.
#827 An invitation to remind me I belong.
#828 Brown sugared carrot soap from Bath and Body Works.
#829 The promise of Fall.
What are you grateful for today?
** Today I’m linking up for Coffee for the Heart here, for Three Word Wednesday here, and for Tell His Story.
Thank you for the reminder about gratitude. I have been struggling with encouraging one of my kids to show gratitude, and the thought occurs to me. Maybe I need to be a better example of showing gratitude. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Jolene – I’m glad my words encouraged you. I think we can all use a little more gratitude in our lives. 🙂 We take things for granted so easily….
Jennifer,
I love all the simple and enjoyable things you are grateful for! I’ve started keeping a notebook of things I might have overlooked during the day and found that I have much more to be grateful for than I thought. It really does make a difference when you start looking at your life like this! 🙂
Valerie – It sure does! I can tell a BIG difference when I am being intentional about counting gifts and when I slack off. Thanks for stopping by the blog today!
Cute graphics and beautiful quote!
Thank you Lori!
Hi Jennifer, lovely to meet you via Holley’s blog. I loved reading what you are grateful for, I join with you in thanking our Lord. I am thankful for His tender care, helping me through a difficult season. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by today Anita! Hang in there! God will give you all you need for the difficult season you face!
When I stop counting, I start complaining.
So true, and it hit me right where I needed it!
