You sit back and watch your child and a wave of emotion threatens to pull you under. A mixture of love and fear. You fight back tears and your heart aches in a way that only adoptive mamas know.
Your child has a story that started long before you became part of it. Some of the details you know, many you don’t. The story is full of hard stuff. Some things you will never quite comprehend.
There are struggles and situations that are out of your control. You can’t change them, but you yearn to protect your child. You watch the struggle and you’d give anything to take it away.
You cry out to God and He answers.
He reminds you that He knows every detail of your child’s story. Nothing is hidden from Him. They were created in His image. They are fearfully and wonderfully made.
He has equipped you to be their mother. He will sustain you.
You can handle the hard stuff with the holy. {Tweet This}
So today, sweet adoptive mama, I pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul – not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us. (Colossians 1:11-12)
Clinging to the glory-strength,
Jennifer

I’m an adoptive mom and this so spoke to me as lately I’ve been feeling like maybe somebody else could do a better job with these kiddos. Thank you for the encouragement.

Kendra – don’t you ever think that someone else could do a better job! You were meant to be the mama of those kiddos. Nobody else can do as good a job as you! But I totally get those thoughts. They have run through my mind before, too. Hang in there! I’m glad you stopped by my blog and I’m glad this post encouraged you!
Have a great day!
