As the mama of a toddler, a very busy toddler, I’m often left discouraged by the lack of time I really get to spend with God. Gone are the days of spending an hour digging deep into a Beth Moore Bible study. This season that’s not realistic.
Most mornings I spend time in my Jesus Calling devotion while Jackson eats breakfast. Some mornings things are so crazy I don’t even get to do that. I’ll get off track, miss a few days, and feel like I’ve failed.
This morning I read, “Do not be discouraged by the difficulty of keeping your focus on me. I know that your heart’s desire is to be aware of My presence continually…Don’t let feeling weigh you down….You live in a world that has been rigged to distract you.”
What a breath of fresh air that was to my weary soul this morning. God pours His grace upon me. This busy mama, with her son grabbing for her pen, turning her Bible pages. This mama who’s easily distracted by the sounds of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and feels guilt over that distraction.
God’s grace covers that, too.
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” ~Hebrews 4:16

You are exactly right. I love Jesus Calling. God knows our heart and our desire. Romans 8:26 promises when we don’t know what to say, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. I think that is true when we feel hurried, harried, and our longing is to spend time with God. The Holy Spirit takes our desire, our plea, our need for Him and intercedes, telling God what we want to say and filling our hearts and minds with His Presence and peace.
