I did something crazy this month – something I’ve never done before…I read an ENTIRE book on my PHONE!!!!
I know, I know, people apparently do it all the time, but I never had. I have a friend who reads on her phone all the time and the thought of it just didn’t sound appealing until I found myself in Texas without my Kindle or a book (GASP!!!). I had no choice but to start a book on my phone and it actually wasn’t so bad.
This month I also enjoyed reading at my happy place – the beach. Does it get any better than that?
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
I loved this book! It was recommended by several people and I devoured it!
People don’t just disappear without a trace, but it seems like that’s what happened to Shelby Tebow and Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah. Are the cases connected? A search for the missing leads to dead ends and more questions than answers. The cases go cold.
Eleven years later, Delilah returns. Where has she been? What happened to Meredith? What about Shelby Tebow? The answers will shock the neighborhood.
Our Little Secret by Kiersten Modgli
One neighborhood. Many secrets. A murder. A missing person. An Affair.
This was my bookclub read for September and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it. It left my head spinning. So many twists and turns. I honestly wasn’t sure where it was headed when I first started reading, but it headed in the right direction and kept me intrigued. Even though I liked the plot and all its twists, I didn’t like a single character by the end of the book.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
I’m not sure why I didn’t choose this book as my Book of The Month for September. After seeing a rave review,I downloaded it to my Kindle to read on the beach. I loved it!!! A fun rom-com about a Ph.D student and a professor fake dating. I loved the banter between the main characters and the relationship that emerged. A light and funny read!
The Mother In Law by Sally Hepworth
This book has been sitting on my Kindle forever and I finally got around to reading it while I was on vacation. I have enjoyed every book that I have read by Hepworth. I enjoyed this one, although it wasn’t quite what I was expecting.
Lucy and her mother-in-law, Diana, have a complicated relationship. When Diana ends up dead, secrets are revealed about the woman whom Lucy wanted so desperately to accept her. What looks like a suicide turns out to be a homicide. Who’s responsible for her murder? Was there more to Diana than she let on? How far was Lucy willing to go to help her?
My Not So Wicked Boss by Jennifer Peel
This is the third book in the My Not So Wicked series. Ever since Aspen’s ex-husband broke her heart, she has sworn off men. It’s been 12 years since she’s experienced butterflies and she can’t believe her new boss, Miles, is the one giving them to her. Miles needs a nanny and a personal assistant and Aspen is up for the job. There’s just one hitch – a contract keeping the two from crossing the friendship line. Will they be able to play by the rules? This is a light-hearted and fun rom-com. I enjoyed the entire series.
