My reading felt sporadic this month, but I somehow managed to finish five books.
Now that the weather is getting nicer and the days longer, I see a lot of reading happening on my porch swing. I have a lot of good books headed my way thanks to the preorder option on Amazon! I’m also excited to join my friend for the online bookclub she’s starting next month.
Okay, my absolute favorite read this month was, Eliza Starts a Rumor by Jane L. Rosen.
I decided to read this book after Elin Hilderbrand recommended it on Instagram. It is so good! I immediately sent a text to several friends and my sister telling them they needed to read this book.
This book is about four women and the unlikely friendships that form after Eliza posts a rumor on the town’s online bulletin board.
Here’s what else I read this month…
Hopefully, Eventually by Chelsea Roe Hooper
My sister gave me this debut novel and it was just the light chick lit I needed after reading several heavy books in February.
The book is about five friends who live in Dallas. It follows their journey through life’s many twists and turns – anxiety, dating, marriage, infidelity. Regardless of what they face, they know they’re better together. As a Texas girl myself, I enjoyed all the shoutouts to the Lone Star State.
Share Your Stuff. I’ll Go First by Laura Tremaine
The basis of this book is to be vulnerable, ask hard questions and take your friendships to the next level.
While I love this idea, and I loved the questions the author presented in each chapter, this wasn’t my favorite book.
I read the book at the recommendation of a friend (who personally knows the author), so I didn’t know anything about the author beforehand. I think I might have enjoyed the book more had I followed the author on social media prior to reading it.
Tremaine talks openly about her lifelong struggle with anxiety, growing up in small town Oklahoma and her current life in Hollywood. Her transparency with her mental health struggles are sure to be an encouragement to readers. She also poses some really deep questions for readers to discuss with their friends.
Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
I had the chance to hear Jennie speak at an event earlier this month. I immediately went home and pulled her book off my bookshelf.
This world is filled with noise and opinions and Jennie’s words were just what I needed to read. This book addresses the power of our thoughts. Our thoughts influence everything! We have a choice in what we set our minds on and Jennie gives readers specific ways to overcome bad thought patterns and the lies of the enemy.
The Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery
The only family Mackenzie has ever known is her husband’s. Her life and career are completely wrapped up in the family winery, where she works as an elite winemaker. When her husband asks for a divorce, Mackenzie risks losing everything – her family, her marriage, her home, her career and her best friend. Can she find the courage to leave all she’s ever known to build a life of her own? Could it be even better than the life she’s been living?
If you’re looking for a light, fun read, Mallery’s newest novel is a good pick.
