It’s time for my monthly book review! Look at these cute new graphics I had made for my monthly posts! I love them so much! It was a little birthday present to myself.
This month I read three books that I loved and quit one book that I didn’t.
I tried so hard to love Anxious People by Fredrik Backman, but I could not get into it. Maybe I will try to read it again, but for now I have too many other books waiting for me. I felt like I was wasting precious reading time trying to get into the book.
The books I did love were…
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
The Only Plane In The Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett M. Graff
After reading excerpts from this book, I knew I had to read the whole thing. This book was written based on approximately 3,000 interviews of people impacted by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
The coverage of 9/11 played a huge role in my decision to pursue a journalism degree. This might be one of the best books I’ve read. I was captivated by the first-hand stories of those who survived the tragic events of that day and felt deep emotion reading the stories of those who lost loved ones. There were so many details from that day that I did not know or I had completely forgotten.
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah
This is the sequel to Firefly Lane. I don’t want to say much about the book because I don’t want to spoil the story for those who haven’t read the first book yet. This book digs deeper into Tully’s story. If you love Firefly Lane, I definitely recommend you read this book, too.
